At St George’s, we warmly welcome all children, recognising their great value in our community. They’re not just attendees but vital members of our church family. We love our intergenerational life together and are often inspired by the sincerity of children’s faith and how they reflect God’s presence among us.
Our Sunday gatherings start at 10.30am, with families worshipping together for the first fifteen minutes before children join one of three age-based groups. Each session is led by a caring, experienced team who create a safe, nurturing space. All leaders are safely recruited and follow our safeguarding policies.
Dan Basford leads our Children’s Ministry with warmth and enthusiasm, ensuring every child feels supported, encouraged, and free to grow in faith.
Tiddlers are our pre-schoolers, who are welcome with their parents or other carers in our Family lounge at the rear of the church. There’s a host who makes sure everyone is OK, some toys and activities for the children, tea and coffee for the adults, and the service livestreamed onto a big TV so no one misses out on what is going on. The person who coordinates this group is name
Divers is for children in Year R to Year 4 and meet in the lounge of Hope House, just across from the church. These little disciples are helped to learn and grow with games, bible stories, imaginative ways to pray and craft activities. Lynne Walton coordinates the Divers Team
Emerge is our group for children in Years 5–9, where fun, friendship and faith come together. They enjoy games, crafts, and lively discussions as they explore what following Jesus means in their world. The group is coordinated by Pauline Murr, who leads the Emerge team with energy and care.
Pulse is our community for young people in Years 7–13, meeting on Sunday evenings, 6–7.30pm during term time at St George’s. The group shapes its own mix of games, activities and conversations about faith in Jesus, all within a safe and supportive space. Lynne Williams leads our Youth Ministry Team, supported by a fantastic (and slightly crazy) crew.
Tuesday morning between 10am and 12pm in the church is when there is a warm welcome for parents (usually Mums!) of non-walking babies. Tea, Coffee, cake and chat is always on offer, as parents of very little ones find friends and encouragement from each other.
The Tadpoles team, led by Maureen and Tessa, are always available to listen and offer support when it’s needed.
