Children and Youth Groups
We are blessed to have a thriving Children's and Youth Ministry at St George's. We are committed to creating space for everyone to belong and meet with God. Each Sunday we run a number of groups as well as several communities for our older youth throughout the week. Please see below for the different Sunday groups and if you are interested in a youth community please go to either Emerge (11-14's) or Pulse (14-18's) which you will find under the Communities tab at the top of the page.
We welcome families with children of all ages and those first few years of parenthood are both exciting and hard work! Our crèche aims to be a place where babies and young toddlers can come and find a warm welcome and toys aplenty.
Parents are welcome to stay with their young ones although we have a rota of parents and helpers who take a turn each month to oversee the session. Parents are able to re-join the main gathering if they wish.
Ewelina Page heads up this team. Crèche is in the extension. Look for the door on the left as you head in. Baby changing facilities are included in this same space.
KS1(Name to follow) Years R to 2
In ‘KS1’ the aim is to have fun and discover all about Jesus! You can expect lots of different crafts, games and activities! Our friendly leaders always have a Bible story to share and we have time to pray together. Parents are welcome to stay with their young ones until they feel confident to stay by themselves.
One of our leaders, Kath is a mother of two herself and says, “I know how amazing it is to be able to stay in church and know that your child is being cared for and having fun in their own group”.
‘KS1’ meet in the extension! You can't miss us! Lisa Knight heads up this team.
If your child is in Year 3-6 then ‘KS2’ is the place for them each Sunday morning.– With a healthy mix of games, drama, discussions and other activities, there’s never a dull moment. There’s always a chance to share what’s going on in life and take the opportunity to thank God for the good things as well as asking for help with our worries.
Each week focuses on a different Bible story with plenty of craft activities including collages, card making, puzzles and even baking cakes! Lynne Walton is one of our Turtles leaders. She says, “It’s a great privilege to work with the youngsters of this age group and we have a lot of fun! As the weeks go by its great to really get to know the children”
After gathering in church, KS2 meet in St. George’s Hall over the road from the main Church Centre. We meet in the foyer and head over as one group with the leaders. We then come back as a group to re-join parents at the end of our time together.
Dan Basford heads up KS2. As he puts it, “We have lots of fun with the gang, and my prayer is that the kids will look back on their time here and remember it as a time enjoyed and a place where they grew in faith”.
If you are in Year 7, 8 or 9 ( 11-14 years old ) then Emerge is for you. We are a diverse bunch of people but we believe that God loves us all and we should love each other too! Everyone is welcome, wherever you are with faith, but one thing is for certain; we want this to be a place that you can really be yourself and belong. We meet on Sunday mornings to go a bit deeper and see what we make of Jesus ourselves. There's always plenty of banter, good discussion and time to pray for each other.
Please head to the Communities tab and click on Emerge to find out what this Community gets up to in the week!
