Carols by Candlelight
7pm Sunday 19th * & Monday 20th December
Carols, contemporary music and readings, celebrating the coming of Jesus Christ.
Christingle Family Carols*
We are really sorry to announce that we have very reluctantly decided not to hold our Christingle Carols in person as we had hoped. With concerns about the Omicron variant we cannot hold the event in a way that we consider safe enough to protect family Christmas plans or avoid the risk of undue pressure on the NHS.
We will livestream the carols, the story and the creating of the Christingle from the church at 3pm as planned, and invite everyone to join in at home via the link here:- https://youtu.be/Rri8c61sVAM
More DIY Christingle bags have been provided and they will be available for collection from St Georges Church between 3 and 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday) , or anytime on Thursday from the porch of the Vicarage opposite the church door at 8 St Georges Road.
Unless the situation changes further, we are planning for worship as follows:
The 8am Quiet Early Morning Communion will take place as normal .
Christmas Morning Family Carols will be in person for those who would like to join us. It will include the usual mix of carols and some special visitors. However, in order to avoid mingling, we have decided not to share Communion this year. Instead we will use the symbols of bread and wine to help us to pray and remember the coming of our Saviour, Jesus.
The service will be livestreamed so that everyone can join together – even if we are not all in the building.
In order for this to be a safe way to proceed, everyone over the age of 11 attending the 10.30am service needs to have had a negative Lateral Flow Test result on Christmas morning before coming. If you are unable to take one, sadly, we need to ask you to join us online at home.
*Livestreamed on YouTube
In order to allow those who are not able to come in person to join in, we are livestreaming the Sunday Carols by Candlelight, the 3pm Christingle Candlelit Carols and Christmas Morning Family Carols.
All on St George's Church YouTube channel here
Christingle kits to make your own at home while you watch will be available from the church office, or from outside the church on Saturday 18th December between 10:30am and 12noon.
Update 10/12/2021 - In line with government guidelines, it's now compulsory to wear a face covering at all times whilst in a place of worship (unless exempt)
We ask all adults to take a Lateral Flow Test for Covid before attending.
A limited amount of socially distanced seating will be available.
Please watch on YouTube at home if you have any symptoms!
